Instructions for Presenters

Registration:
Residents and fellows who attend the conference are required to pay a registration fee. The current registration fee is $150 for residents/fellows accompanied by a preceptor. The registration fee is $200 for residents/fellows unaccompanied by a preceptor.

Residents who are not accompanied by a preceptor must pay all expenses including hotel fees.  The conference will not reimburse their expenses.

The conference will only pay for hotel expenses for presenters from within the Midwest region.

Hotel:
Hotel reservations will be made by conference personnel for all residents and fellows from within the Midwest region accompanied by a preceptor. If a preceptor is planning on sharing a room with a resident, the conference must be notified. The preceptor will still be responsible for their room charges.

Presenters who request a private room will be charged for half of the cost of the room. Private room requests will be accepted space permitting.

<<Travel Notice>>

Over the last several years funding for the Midwest Pharmacy Resident's Conference has been extremely difficult to secure. Therefore the National Planning Committee has regrettably made the decision that the conference can NO LONGER FUND THE RESIDENTS TRAVEL TO THE CONFERENCE. It is now the responsibility of each institution and/or resident to fund the resident(s) travel to the conference. At this time the conference will pay for the resident(s) hotel accommodations.

Abstract & Presentation Information:
All abstracts are due March 14th. Email abstracts as an attachment to .  The abstract should be saved under the last name of the presenter. Please register online at the same time you submit your abstract.

Presenters must submit abstracts and register by March 14th. Presentation time cannot be guaranteed for abstracts received after this date.

Each room will be equipped with a computer and LCD projector. All presentations must use "windows based" Microsoft Power Point® Software (Version 97).  Macintosh® Presentation software will not be available to the presenter.  Presentations should be stored on a USB drive.  There will be representatives from the Planning Committee available to assist with any LCD problems that may occur.  Pointers will not be provided by the conference.

All presentations begin and end at the scheduled times. The format of the conference will allow up to a 20-minute presentation. There will be 5 minutes allowed for questions after the presentation.

A "5 minute" card will be held up for the speaker to see at the appropriate time. This card indicates that 5 minutes are left for the presentation, with an additional 5 minutes for questions. This will allow 5 minutes to switch speakers.

The presentation schedule will not be released until a week before the conference. The schedule will be emailed to registered preceptors.

Evaluation forms can be picked up at the end of each day at the conference registration desk. Evaluation forms will not be mailed to presenters after the conference.

Residents attending the conference are expected to attend other resident’s presentations.

Other information:
The host residency program is sponsoring the conference on a voluntary basis. They are sponsoring the conference because they are dedicated to post graduate pharmacy education. They are not professional meeting planners. The host residency program will be trying very hard to make the conference a success, but sometimes there can be glitches. They will work very hard to correct any problems if they occur.
