Midwest Pharmacy Residents Conference
Instructions for Judges

The purpose of the MPRC presentation is to give the resident or fellow experience with speaking in front of peers and to provide a forum to meet, share ideas, and network with other professionals. The MPRC serves as a forum in which to present completed research, research in progress, a unique project, or a case study conducted during the residency/fellowship. Resident and fellows attending the conference will give platform presentations which will be evaluated by a group of practitioners. The specific evaluation plan and responsibilities of judges are outlined below.

Judges:
Each presentation will be objectively evaluated by at least two individual judges (one will also serve as the session moderator) and a group of practioners (the audience). These judges will be selected by the MPRC Planning Committee members and will consist of preceptors attending the conference. Most preceptors will be asked to judge at least one set of resident presentations and all preceptors are encouraged to judge additional presentations, as a member of the audience if possible. The Evaluation Form is used to evaluate specific components of the resident/fellow’s presentation by checking off the level of performance. Each level of performance is defined on the evaluation form with room for additional comments.

Other Evaluators:
Other conference attendees are encouraged to provide feedback to presenters. “Other” evaluators may include peer residents/fellows, MPRC sponsors, preceptors attending the presentation who are not judging or moderating, or preceptors from the presenter’s residency/fellowship site. To evaluate an individual presentation or group of presentations, it will be necessary to complete the Evaluation Form for each presentation that will be evaluated. These forms will be on colored paper to distinguish from the official judge’s evaluation forms. The will be available in the presentation rooms or at the Conference Registration desk.

Instructions to all Judges/Evaluators:
1. Carefully review the Evaluation Form prior to the presentation you will be evaluating. If you have any question about the form, please contact a representative at the Registration desk.

2. Obtain the appropriate number of Evaluation Forms (one for each presentation). Completely fill in the speaker’s name and presentation title in the appropriate blanks.

3. All sections on the Evaluation Form must be evaluated and checked by the judge. All judges/evaluators are encouraged to be objective and provide constructive feedback when appropriate. Written comments are encouraged as they are often more instructive than circled or checked scores.

4. The purpose of the evaluation is primarily to critique the presenter’s style and presentation skills. If necessary, you may include comments on the project’s merit, however be mindful that this is not the true intention of the evaluation.

Please return completed evaluation forms to the session moderator or the MPRC Registration desk at the end of the session! Do not return directly to the presenter.

Please ensure that every evaluation form is kept confidential.
